Security & Reliability

Welcome to ProcNote, an online educational platform developed by ProcNote LLC ("Us," "We," or "Our") for use by schools on school-issued devices that provides a controlled environment for writing instruction. Teachers can ensure that only approved research material is available to the student during the writing process so that student work is original and AI or other tools aren't used by students to skip the "thinking" step when drafting.

At ProcNote, we understand that we are entrusted with sensitive student-generated data. Security isn't a feature; it's our foundation.

1. Data Protection

• Encryption at Rest: All student data and assignments are encrypted using AES-256.
• Encryption in Transit: All data moving between the classroom and our servers is protected via TLS 1.2+.
• Secure Hosting: Our infrastructure is hosted exclusively within AWS (US-East regions) in SOC 2 Type II compliant data centers.

2. Compliance & Privacy

• FERPA & COPPA: We are built to comply with federal student privacy standards.
• MA 201 CMR 17.00: We maintain a comprehensive Written Information Security Program (WISP).
• Zero-Persistence Policy: Districts can set an auto-purge date to ensure all student data is deleted at the end of the school year.

3. Access & Infrastructure

• Identity Management: MFA is required for all ProcNote administrative access.
• Continuous Monitoring: We utilize centralized logging and automated alerts to detect and respond to anomalies.
• Focus Mode Security: Our Chromebook Focus Mode is designed to help students stay on task while providing teachers with auditable engagement logs.
